Hamlet prince of Denmark learns that his father,
the king of Denmark is dead and his uncle, Claudius,
has claimed the throne. Filled with grief and rage,
Hamlet returns home from college to attend his fathers
funeral. Hamlets concern increases when his mother,
Queen Gertrude marries King Claudius. Hamlet sees
the ghost of his father, who tells him that he was
murdered by Claudius. Feigning madness, Hamlet alienates
his friends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern and his
beloved Ophelia. Hamlet urges a band of travelling
actors to entertain the court by portraying a murder,
to push Claudius into revealing his guilt. Claudius
plots against Hamlet and following several deaths
the play ends with a fencing match between Hamlet
and Laertes. Gertrude dies, poisoned by wine meant
for Hamlet. Claudius's guilt is exposed and he is
killed by Hamlet. Hamlet dies from his fencing wound,
caused by a poisoned sword.
