Mowbry, Duke of Norfolk is accused by Henry Bolingbroke
of the murder of the Duke of Gloucester, the uncle
of King Richard. Richard orders trial by combat
to settle matters, but before they fight decides
to banish them both. When Bolingbrokes's father
dies, his estates are seized by the King to raise
money for his war against Ireland. Bolingbroke returns
whilst the King is in Ireland, reclaims his fathers
lands and joins forces opposed to Richard. When
Richard returns he is captured by Bolingbroke and
confesses his crimes before parliament, losing his
crown. Bolingbroke becomes King Henry IV and Richard
is murdered.
