The life of Pericles, the Prince of Tyre, is in
danger from Antiochus. Pericles flees but is ship
wrecked. He meets and marries Thaisa and upon the
death of Antiochus decides to return to Tyre with
his wife, who gives birth to their daughter on the
way. Thaisa is thought to be dead and is buried
at sea in a coffin, which washes up on Ephesus.
Cerimon revives Thaisa who, believing her husband
lost becomes a priestess. Pericles takes his daughter
Marina to Tarsus, where Cleon and his wife raise
her for the next sixteen years. Marina is captured
by pirates and sold into slavery in Mitylene but
soon set free by the governor, Lysismachus. Pericles
visits Mitylene and is reunited with his daughter.
Marina agrees to marry Lysismachus. Following a
dream, Pericles travels to Ephesus where he is reunited
with his wife Thaisa.
